In Italian - Celebrazione del Centesimo Compleanno dello Scrittore Triestino Boris Pahor a Toronto
Invitation - PDF
Dr. Irean Gril, Chargée d’ affairs a.i., Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ottawa, had organized the evening together with Prof. Anne Urbančič of the University of Toronto and others. She provided a documentary film and a display of selected works by Boris Pahor, in the original Slovenian and in translation. I contributed by bringing some of the first editions in my possessions, i.e., the original 1967 version of Nekropola which Boris had brought to my parents for me before they left for Canada; its French translation of 1990, Pélérin parmi les ombres, the American version of 1995, Pilgrim Among the Shadows; and also Na sipini (On the Dune) of 1960. While all the copies were inscribed to me, in the last one the dedication mentioned the titles of the two stories that had been inspired by our encounters, Alge med prsti (Algae Between the Fingers), and Na koncu pomola (At the End of the Pier)
