“The arts in 1912 were in pursuit of modernism. The
search for the avant-garde led many artists and composers
to revive earlier models based on primitivism. Such was the
case with Hungarian composer Béla Bartók and
Rumanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi. In this unique and
acclaimed presentation, Dr. Damjana Bratuz will link the use
of primitive and peasant models by the two artist. Dr. Bratuz
will give an illustrated lecture with taped music, followed
by a brief piano recital of Bartók compositions.”
