I first came across her name as author of an excellent
article, years ago, on competitive music festivals in Canada.
That was not long after I had organized, for the Canadian
Music Counmcil, a symposium on the "pros and Cons of
the Competitive Festival," and so had been subjected
to much fervent nonsense on the topic. Bratu' article seemed
like an unexpected breath of sweet reason and made more sense
than I had heard in some time
